Hot Hundred: Scotland’s best courses ranked

The UK’s best-selling golf magazine has just released its ranking of the best courses in Scotland – with some interesting results.

The Golf World list is topped by the Old Course at St Andrews, with Turnberry, Muirfield, Royal Dornoch and North Berwick completing the top five.

The highest new entry is Ardfin, a spectacular new course on the remote Atlantic island of Jura. The modern links at Dumbarnie, near St Andrews, enters the rankings at number 24.

Shiskine – a 12-hole links on the Isle of Arran – is one of the biggest climbers, rising 20 places to 33, while the remote links at Dunaverty is a new entry at 48.

The latest rankings show the strength of modern course development in Scotland. Ten of the top 30 courses are less than 30 years old.
